Playground Games Recruited Former MGSV, GTA V, Hellblade Developers To Work On New Action RPG

Playground Games have made their name with the Forza Horizon series, a more laidback, arcadey open world racer to its more serious Forza Motorsport series. The UK team has gained enough grounds to expand further, with a brand new team dedicated to make their first non-racing game.

As reported by Gamesindustry.biz, Playground Games have nabbed some big talents to work on their new game, now referred to as an open world action RPG.

The latest of the recruits is Sean Eyestone as production director. He was formerly worked as senior producer at EA DICE (Star Wars Battlefront II), and before that served worked at Kojima Productions (Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes).

Before this, Playground has hired Will Kennedy as chief designer. He was working at Rockstar North for eight years as level and game designer and then as senior online mission and flow designer for Grand Theft Auto V. Juan Fernandez di Simon now serves as combat designer for Playground’s second studio, previously worked on Ninja Theory’s now successful Hellblade as a senior designer.

Playground Games’ second studio will be housing 200 employees to work on this new open world action RPG. Given the developers close relations to Microsoft, it’s interesting to see whether this new game will be an Xbox One exclusive, something the console really needs more, or a multi-platform release.
