Over The Radio Is A Local Co-Op Game Where One Player Must Help Another Navigate A Plane Using Real Paper Maps

New indie studio Polygoose Studio has announced their new game, Over The Radio.

It’s a communication co-op game where two players must work together, but they can’t share the screen. One player is the Pilot, who has to fly an aeroplane and reach to a destination. The other is the Navigator, who can’t see the Pilot’s game screen but has access to real, paper maps to help the Pilot find their way there.

The new trailer shows the gameplay of Over The Radio the best. This isn’t a rally race situation where the the driver and co-driver are both in the vehicle. The Navigator is communicating with the Pilot… over the radio, so to speak.

There’s also a replay feature that shows the trail of the plane, so you can look back and laugh off the communication breakdowns you and your partner have had through this ordeal, presented in a “cosy, stylised” artstyle.

If you instantly clock Over The Radio as a similar game as Keep Talking And Nobody Explodes, you’d be right. At least on paper, Over The Radio operates on the same principles. Two players, only one has access to the game screen, the other has access to an additional resource that can be printed out. The paper map is optional—no one will stop you from just using a PDF. And technically no will stop you if you don’t abide to the house rules of not allowing the Navigator see the screen. But the underlying theme here is communication and trust, and the fun is when you do trust the game devs to not break the house rules of no screen cheating.

Over The Radio will be at Tokyo Game Show 2025 later this September as part of the Selected Indie 80 program. Attendees can try a demo of the game and receive exclusive giveaways from participating. Polygoose Studio is based in Los Angeles, USA but its founder has “extensive experience at a leading design studio and a renowned game studio in Tokyo, Japan,” which should explain their upcoming presence at Tokyo Game Show.

Over The Radio is preparing to fly sometime in 2026 for PC (Steam).
