Nvidia Adds New-And-Improved DLSS Support To Control And Mechwarrior 5

Outside of ray-tracing, there’s one other feature the Nvidia RTX cards can do: DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling ). It harnesses the power of AI (via the dedicated Tensor Cores available in RTX GPUs) to make sharper images with less performance penalties. A new solution for what anti-aliasing was solving, essentially.

Nvidia is rolling a new version of DLSS, DLSS 2.0, which should produces sharper results, freeing up resources for other things like ray-tracing. DLSS 2.0 should be twice more efficient and comes with customisation options. You can opt for three settings: Quality, Balanced, and Performance.

DLSS 2.0 has been rolled out to Deliver Us The Moon and Wolfenstein: Youngblood. Now, Mechwarrior 5: Mercenaries joins the fold, available now. Control will be getting DLSS 2.0 support as well on March 26th, coinciding with The Foundation DLC release.

Here’s a showcase of DLSS 2.0, which compares the original DLSS with the new one. It’s noticably sharper, and less shimmery:

DLSS looks to be more worth the extra price for the RTX graphics cards, should it continue to improve and supports more games. You can try out the new DLSS 2.0 by installing the latest GeForce driver- version 445.75– now available.
