No, Pokemon Go Is Not Out Yet In Malaysia Today

We rarely post about rumours, unless it is backed by credible sources and is likely to happen, like the news on the Neo and Scorpio, the upcoming PS4 and Xbox Ones with better hardware. In the case of Pokemon Go, we have seen countless of rumours with no strong source that it should have been releasing roughly around today. The only source of information here is speculations from a fansite, and no official word from developers Niantic Labs about the mobile augmented reality game coming to Malaysia. As such, we decided not to report on such claims.

The last official word coming from them is that the rollout to several countries around Europe and Asia has now commenced, after a slight hiccup in which it was halted for a bit. Right now, Australia, New Zealand, the US, and Germany have received the official game.

The folks at IGN Asia had contacted Niantic Labs, through their PR agency and had confirmed there are no plans to release Pokemon Go to other countries at the moment. So, bad news folks.

Everyone is now interested in the latest craze to get out of the house and catch pokemons in real life locations, which has now lead to crazy antics of trespassing, dead bodies being found, businesses taking this opportunity to drive people to their shops, and of course, fake news and rumours.

The hype for Pokemon Go has certainly benefited Nintendo as its stock prices soar (for now) and Niantic is now facing server loads issue- which means there is a huge number of players interested in the app and they have yet to keep up to the demand. This is why most global mobile apps do soft launches, rolling it out to Australia and New Zealand first, then the rest of the world, so their servers can properly scale and accommodate the increase of users.

Remember to check your sources before believing in the news ladies and gentlemen. It’s better to know the truth than wishing something to be true and then be disappointed.
