Nightingale Now Has Offline Mode

Survival crafting game Nightingale has a new update which allows players to play the game entirely offline. The game, launched in Early Access, required a constant online connection to work, even if you are playing solo.

In this day of age where such a choice is not popular, as players are more worried of a game’s playability once publishers and developers end support (see The Crew and the game preservation movement that has launched).

Update 0.3 of Nightingale allows players to play the game uninterrupted, even during server maintenance. More improvements are coming to support playability including cloud saves, character migration from online mode and performance enhancements.

“Since the Early Access launch, we’ve been hard at work implementing feedback and creating a better player experience overall,” said Aaryn Flynn, CEO of Inflexion Games, “The introduction of offline mode is a significant milestone in the Early Access journey and one of many exciting updates we have planned for the coming months. We already feel like we’ve come along leaps and bounds since we launched just three months ago and we look forward to sharing more updates in the future.”

Nightingale is developed by Inflexion Games, a new-ish development team comprised of many industry veterans including some names that have worked at Bioware.

The game has promise, but still requires a lot more work before it becomes truly special. And there’s plenty of fixes and adjustments that have been done since the Early Access launch that has addressed our issues from the preview build we’ve got some hands-on time on.

Also, game update 0.3 adds more NPCs with familiar names, including Joan of Arc and Edgar Allan Poe. Sweet. Full patch notes can be found here.

Nightingale is available in Early Access on PC (Steam).
