New Towns And Regions Revealed For Red Dead Redemption II

Red Dead Redemption, Rockstar’s 2010 open world action-adventure game, was set in three large, fictional regions representing a Western frontier at its decline. Red Dead Redemption II is a prequel to the that game’s events, set  years before and will feature more regions and towns.

A new reveal on the official Red Dead Redemption II site has details of the regions of New Hanover, Ambarino, Lemoyne and returning from the previous game, West Elizabeth.

In New Hanover, there’s the town of Valentine described as “a raucous, rough-and-tumble town in the Heartlands” and also a town with an economy based on livestock trading. There’s also the mining town of Annesburg, with more poor citizens due to the harsh work and terrible working conditions.

Over to the swamps and bayous of Lemoyne is the town of Saint Denis, which looks pretty developed with a screenshot of a tram car running around through the street ways. The town of Rhodes has a rivalry between two warring plantation families, which sounds like a good setup for a side mission. Then deep in the bayou is the settlement called Lagras, with houses built beside the swamp that has good fishing spots.

The mountainous Ambarino region is where the Mount Hagen resides. A new town called Strawberry, not seen in the previous game, which has a new mayor “who is obsessed with transforming it into a cultural beacon for wealthy tourists, much to the bemusement of the locals.”

Red Dead Redemption II’s gameplay involves the outlaws that is Dutch Van Der Linde’s gang moving from camp to camp escaping the authority. With at least four regions you will be visiting throughout the game, it remains to be seen if the full open world will remain available to explore or will it be gated through story progress.

Red Dead Redemption II will be riding to stores on October 26th for the PS4 and Xbox One.
