New Tokyo Xtreme Racer Trailer Confirms Car Customisation

A new trailer for the new entry to Tokyo Xtreme Racer, simply titled Tokyo Xtreme Racer, just dropped.

It’s still a short tease all things considered, it’s barely a minute long, but this is an extended Preview Video (PV) of the previous teaser from last month.

More importantly, this new trailer confirms that car customisation is in Tokyo Xtreme Racer. Not that it was ever questioned: the series has always offer this feature, including the ability to change the visuals with custom bumpers and wings. But it’s good to see them available. The MkIV Supra gets tricked out with canards, wings, wheels (including licensed wheels, Advan Racing rims are featured) and even a livery. A full-on livery editor has yet to be confirmed.

Tokyo Xtreme Racer by developer Genki will take players to the highways of Tokyo, in particular the Shuto Expressway, where like-minded racers weave through traffic and breakneck speeds to see who’s fastest.

In the mainline series, which seen multiple entries during the PS2 console generation, this is expressed as SP Battles, where players must outrun their rival cleanly to whittle down their SP bar, laid out like it’s a fighting game. In some sense, the duels in Tokyo Xtreme Racer are like fighting game battles, with some exceptions. And we can see one right here in the trailer: it’s a three-way fight between the Supra, R34 GT-R and RX7.

The new Tokyo Xtreme Racer is set to release sometime in 2025 on PC (Steam).
