A new gameplay trailer for Hitman 3 has appeared. It’s light on new details (there are a few) but it serves as an introductory course to newcomers on what to expect in the world of assassination- the three-part trilogy of new Hitman titles that began in 2016. Complete with narration.
In Hitman 3, the locations are a sandbox and you have freedom to approach your objectives however you like. You can do it straight-up and shoot your target and run for your life. Or plan an elaborate trap by learning a target’s routine. Or make use of opportunities to throw a wrench in the clockwork AI schedules, and bend it to your favour.
Hitman 3 (like Hitman 2 and Hitman 2016) rewards you for playing the same locations again and again. There are 20 Mastery tracks that will unlock new tools, weapons and starting locations that opens up new ways to play and approach the same objectives differently.
If that’s not enough, there are also Escalation missions that mixes things up and really test your map knowledge and skill to assassinate people.
As for new things, there’s a new multi-function camera that can hack doors shown in the trailer. There’s also a sniper-rifle so strong it knocks back the enemy’s body to handily hide it- something seen in the Sniper Assassin maps in Hitman 2. At least there are opportunities to make use of that handy ability in normal maps.
Hitman 3 will run at 4K 60fps on next-gen consoles, as well as supporting HDR and faster load times. On PS5, it will make use of the DualSense controller by having different haptic feedback for the different guns.
Since Hitman 3 supports PS VR and there’s no native support for PS VR for PS5 (it runs via backward compatibility), all Hitman 3 copies for PS5 also includes the PS4 version.
Usually, buying the PS5 version won’t entitle you to the PS4 version (but most games support a free next-gen upgrade to PS5 if you buy for PS4). So that’s interesting too.
Hitman 3 launches on January 20 for the PS4, PS5, PC (Epic Games Store), Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Stadia.
