More Changes To The Progression System Coming To An Upcoming Need For Speed Payback Patch

Need For Speed Payback is a fun game until you realised you needed to some grinding. That’s not a bad thing unless the grind is bad where it’s hard to consistently get the results you wanted.

Over the few days EA and Ghost Games have addressed these issues directly via a server update- those we already covered here. The developers have finally addressed these changes formally and has announced a client-side patch is coming sometime soon. The following are some of the changes:

  • Tune-up shops now stock higher quality parts
  • Improved quality of cards from targeted rolls in the Tune-up Shops
  • Increased the level on parts awarded from winning events
  • Multiple fixes to Improve stability
  • Improved game performance

Payback’s Speed Card system sounds interesting, but is not good in practice. The new adjustments, however, has made the grind more rewarding while reducing the need to just throw real money at the problem and buy loot boxes. The upcoming patch should make grinding even more rewarding.

Our full review discovered that it is a better Need For Speed 2015, but a lot of the new additions fall flat. There is good fun to be had, and the car customisation is now in good shape, so it’s still worth a try if you are a fan of the series.
