Following the big uproar over Star Wars Battlefront II’s progression system that heavily encourages micro-transactions through loot boxes, changes have been made including temporarily disabling all micro-transactions.
EA’s other title (that also has loot boxes) Need For Speed Payback is getting a minor change for its progression system as well.
Over on the Need For Speed Reddit, the changes are thanks to “community feedback” and their own data gathering procedures. This should reduce the game’s need for some grinding, thanks to the way Speed Cards work in the game, by a bit. But maybe not much.
The changes are as follows:
- Increased the amount of REP [experience points] awarded by taking part in events.
- Increased the amount of Bank [in-game money] awarded by taking part in events.
- Bait crates now reward increased REP.
- Bait crates now reward increased Bank.
- Competing against a Roaming Racer will reward you with increased REP.
- Competing against a Roaming Racer will reward you with increased Bank.
- Air Suspension will now appear more frequently within Shipments.
- Slightly increased REP and Bank for finishing an event outside of first place.
This is not the first time the game has been changed to address issues. The duration until the Speed Card in the shop refreshes changed from 30 minutes down to 10 early after the game is available for everyone.
We have our own review on Need For Speed Payback here. Payback is certainly better than Need For Speed 2015, but still a hard sell as for those who are not fans of the series.
