PlayStation is back with one of those limited edition PS5 controllers, but this one’s looking pretty cool and may hit the nostalgia buttons to long-time fans of the series.
The series in question is Gran Turismo, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary. To commemorate that, a new PS5 DualSense controller will be made available on December 10.
The design of the GT Limited Edition controller looks like a race car, from the racing stripes to the faux carbon fibre texture used for the front plate plus the safety stickers. But it goes deeper.
As the trailer alludes to, the design of this limited edition controller is based of the cover car of Gran Turismo 4, the specific-to-GT4 race spec version of the Ford GT40 in white with black stripes (also available in Gran Turismo 7). Alongside of being the cover car, that GT40 also featured in the gracefully aged CG trailer of Gran Turismo 4, which was a spectacle in realism when it launch in 2004 which still looks decent today. The logo of the Gran Turismo Association, a fictional brand used in part of GT4, is seen on the controller. There’s a logo to boast the series lifetime sales of the influential racing game, sales for Gran Turismo as a series passed 100 million copies.
All the design went to the front facia though, as the back is just a black cover with the GT logo that denotes its 30th anniversary.

This is revealed on the same day as the Spec IV (Part 1) update to Gran Turismo 7 dropped. Players already know what to expect from this update, and can get their hands on the new features and new track already, so this is some new news to drop on what would be the day all the update details were released.
PlayStation didn’t provide a localised MSRP, but it will be priced at $84.99 USD in the US. This is 99 cents more compared to other premium and limited-edition DualSense controllers (including the GTA VI one, the collab with superstar Lisa, the Marvel’s Wolverine controller and the one for Marathon). The localised price for the premium and limited-edition DualSense controllers in Malaysia is RM419, so expect around that price point, maybe a bit more, for the Gran Turismo Limited Edition controller.
Pre-orders for the Gran turismo Limited Edition controller begins on October 22 at participating retailers.
