Sony San Diego Studio has reveal the first look at gameplay for MLB The Show 25 that gives out snippet of what you’ll get to play in March.
The selling point for this new edition is that their career mode, Road to The Show, will now start at the High School/ College division before going onto being in the 3rd division Minor league, much like how NBA 2K has done in their Mycareer with High school games. It’s a neat way to make players feel like they’re going onto a journey to be perhaps a future star like the cover athletes.
And this include division specific equipment like University jerseys from selected schools and introduction of the metal bats that brings out that distinctive “DING” at each batting attempt.
They also showcase new gameplay changes in their core mechanics. Like reactionary stuff, for example catching the ball before it becomes a home run, is now doable, and you can avoid an OUT tag via a QTE, all the while doing it in first person.
And even more surprising is that most of this features are also coming to the Nintendo Switch version completely intact. Which does speak volume of the Nintendo Switch player base and buying power,as they are essentially the final last-gen port for this series.
MLB The Show 25 is set to launch on March 18 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch.
