Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls Reveals Peni Parker, The Amazing Guardians Team

The whole assemble of Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls’ starting roster continues to shape with this new announcement right out of Arc World Tour 2025-2026 Finals. Developer Arc System Works reveals the next character to join the 4v4 tag fighter: Peni Parker.

Japanese-American student Peni Parker pilots a mech suit, “Sp///dr” and is the fourth character in the latest revealed team: The Amazing Guardians. Spider-Man leads The Amazing Guardians, a group “heroes from a new generation” that also features previously revealed Star-Lord and Ms. Marvel.

The new trailer is now highlighting the English voiceover, after the early lead-up has only been featuring Japanese voiceovers.

Fans of Marvel have been racking their brains over how to slot in the characters in a premade team (which will have their own story arc in the game’s story mode). Star-Lord in particular seems hard to slot in, but it looks like he’s joining the team of young heroes.

Previously, Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls revealed Magik, Wolverine and Danger, which together with Storm makes up the Unbreakable X-Men. A team led by Captain America, another by Ghost Rider and another by Dr. Doom are yet to be revealed. Iron Man, the remaining previously revealed character, would likely be on Cap’s team if we’re getting some form of the Avengers, but who knows, what’s stopping Marvel Tōkon from doing something unexpected with their premade teams?

Speaking of teams, Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls will have an automatic team name generation feature. In the closed beta, the start-of-fight scene features two teams with a fixed name. The full game will instead generated a special team name based on the combination of characters you make in the roster, all with references to the greater Marvel lore, all of which will be announced by a ring announcer.

That would mean, if you calculate every unique team of four characters from a 16 character roster, there’s at most 1820 unique team names, to be generated, and to be announced by the ring announcer, assuming each of the different character combination resulted in a unique name.

Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls has a playable demo at Arc World Tour 2025-2026 Finals, and will have another at the upcoming Evo Japan 2026 in May. This latest build will feature Peni and the new stage Knowhere playable. The game has had some significant gameplay overhauls based on feedback from the closed beta, though a lot of the points here are finer details which hardcore fighting game players would appreciate. The full patch notes are only hosted on the game’s official Discord server.

Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls is set to release this August on PS5 and PC (Steam).
