Kickstarter Campaign For Pathfinder: Wrath Of The Righteous Now Live

Pathfinder: Wrath Of The Righteous is the sequel to Pathfinder: Kingmaker, based on the tabletop RPG by Paizo. As teased before, Owlcat Games have launched its Kickstarter campaign to fund the development of the CRPG.

In this game, you need to fight a war against demons, and the way to do this involves having your character to follow one of six Mythic Paths. You can ally with a lich that commands the undead, or seek help from an Aeon, “a cosmic judge of balance that can travel to the past”, or have an Angel, a demon, a Trickster or an Azata (“a champion of the innocent and unstoppable force of good”).

You can also just ignore these celestial beings’ help and forge your own path- be a legend that can rally the troops without the help of a deity.

Expect choices that change the outcome of the story. Illustrious freelance writer Chris Avallone is part of the writing team.

The Kickstarter trailer gives a sneak peek of the gameplay for Pathfinder: Wrath Of The Righteous. Oh yeah, it’s as a CRPG as you would expect.

Pathfinder: Wrath Of The Righteous will have 10 companions (with options to romance them). It also adds five new classes (Arcanist, Bloodrager, Shaman, Oracle, and Witch) on top of the previous classes from Kingmaker all returning- a total of 21. Each classes also has five archetypes within them, so there’s a lot of room for character customisation here.

For newcomers, there’s a better tutorial system being added. And the isometric camera can now be turned 360-degrees. Also new to the sequel is the Kingdom Management system, a strategic layer where you need to guide your army on the crusade against demons.

The game is already in alpha stage, but extra funding via Kickstarter is to help get more content to the CRPG fleshed out. “Our Kickstarter campaign will allow our team to flesh out each Mythic Path with exclusive story branches and abilities that influence the game world,” says Alexander Mishulin, Creative Director of Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous. “It will also allow us to produce more content like new classes, races, and companions.”

The Kickstarter (link here) aims to raise $300,000 USD, which at the time of writing, has been surpassed. But you can still chip in to get those backer goodies, and unlock further stretch goals. The Kickstarter campaign will last until March 11th.

Pathfinder: Wrath Of The Righteous is expected to be released in June 2021 for PC via Steam and GOG.
