iRacing 2022 Season 1 Update Adds 2021 Mercedes F1 Car And More

A new update to racing sim iRacing has arrived. Dubbed 2022 Season 1, the update adds two new tracks and three new cars, including the Mercedes-AMG W12 E Performance.

Yes, that’s the 2021-spec Formula 1 car from Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team, currently battling for both the Driver’s and Constructor’s Championships with one more race to go, at the time of writing.

The partnership with iRacing was announced back in September, and now sim racers can get a taste of another modern F1 car with the V6 hybrid engine. This time, a fast one.

“We have been working closely with iRacing since the start of 2021 to bring the W12 life in iRacing’s virtual environment,” said James Vowles, Motorsport Strategy Director, Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team. “The intent was to create as accurate a representation of W12 as possible from a performance and driving perspective.”

Previously, the most modern Mercedes F1 car was available on Gran Turismo Sport, which featured the 2017 title winner.

The two other cars being added in iRacing 2022 Season 1 is the Hyundai Elantra N TC and Honda Civic Type R touring cars. While the two other tracks are Watkins Glen and Knockhill Racing Circuit plus the Porsche Experience Center at Hockenheim, available for those that owned Hockenheimring.
