Here’s a weird Free Game Alert. It’s for double-dipping a game you already own.
GOG is offering a free copy of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on GOG that’s DRM-free for a limited time.
The catch? You need to own The Witcher 3, or The Witcher 3 GOTY Edition on another platform that can connect to GOG Galaxy, the new all-in-one game launcher platform.
So that means if you own The Witcher 3 on PC (Steam, Epic, Origin), or on PS4 and Xbox One, you can totally get another copy on GOG.
The way this works is by using GOG Galaxy and connecting your other platforms (including Xbox Live and PSN) to it. Switch players are unfortunately left out, however, as there’s no way of connecting a Switch account to GOG for the moment.
A banner will appear on the GOG Galaxy launcher, and should it find you own The Witcher 3 on another platform, you can claim it on GOG, free.
It’s kind of cool to see this, but we recommend consulting the FAQ here to see the many different edge cases such a giveaway can happen. Like, if you already have it on GOG and another platform, you can get a gift code instead.
Also note that the GOG integration with PSN is a spotty right now. So if you can’t connect your PSN account, it’s not just you.
