Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered Is Real And It’s Available As A Paid Upgrade For PS5 And PC

For some reason, a remaster of Horizon Zero Dawn is releasing in October. Long rumoured and even leaked, Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered is formally announced at the September 2024 State Of Play broadcast.

This remaster of the 2017 open world action-RPG improves the graphics fidelity, adds support for haptic feedback on a DualSense controller and 3D audio as well new motion capture and camera angles for the infamous shot-reverse-shot conversations.

Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered offers a paid upgrade option for owners of the existing PS4 and PC version of the game. This is in line with PlayStation’s current offering of not handing out free next-gen upgrades anymore- the PS5 remasters for Marvel’s Spider-Man and Ghost Of Tsushima are such examples.

PlayStation did kept their offer free next-gen upgrades to specific games early in this console generation which includes Horizon Zero Dawn’s sequel, Horizon Forbidden West.

At least there is an upgrade option rather than only having a standalone release. So existing players don’t have to double-dip and only pay a price of a DLC worth-

Given that Horizon Zero Dawn’s current release still holds up well enough, and the lack of demand for more Horizon content (Lego Horizon Adventures is on the horizon), fan reception to Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered has been tepid. But there’s definitely one particular game from the PS4 generation that fans eagerly await for a remaster: Bloodborne. No news on that front yet, unfortunately.

Horizon Zero Dawn: Remastered will be available on October 31 on PS5 and PC (Steam, Epic Games Store).
