Sony, unlike Microsoft, has a hard stance with its first-party exclusives to only support the next-gen PS5 console moving forward. Ghost Of Tsushima is the last PS4-exclusive from a PlayStation Studio.
But apparently that has changed. Tucked in a new blog post after the PS5 Showcase stream for September 2020 is the announcement that three PS5 titles will also be coming to PS4. The games are:
- Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales
- Sackboy A Big Adventure
- Horizon Forbidden West
These titles were previously revealed as PS5 exclusives, but will also launch on PS4 too. Owners of the PS4 version will get a free upgrade to the PS5 version (disc copies of the PS4 version requires PS5 and not the disc drive-less PS5 Digital Edition).
On one end, this makes players less pressured to go get a PS5 for that new exclusive game. But on the other, it’s a backpedalling of sorts with their previous stance of only making PS5 title moving forward.
The PS5 launches on November 12 on select markets and November 19 worldwide.
