Hi-Fi Rush Adds More Assist Options And “Bossplay Costume Pack” Paid DLC

Hi-Fi Rush, Tango Gamework’s surprise hit rhythm character action game, gets a new update.

The update adds more accessibility features that should help folks out in overcoming the rhythm aspects of its gameplay.

The first one is 2D Rhythm Game Assist (which includes QTEs for activating generators and the like). The assist widens the timing window of the input, and you can still succeed by just getting about 70% of the input correct.

This assist is handy, as the Rhythm Game QTEs are hard to gauge its timing and it doesn’t matter if you’re a human metronome- it works differently to the rest of the game which can be jarring.

The other accessibility option is Auto Rhythm Parry. This is to make the rhythm parries, where you do the Simon Says/Space Channel 5 style button pressing matching the beat, easier. With Auto Rhythm Parry, you just hold the press and hold the button for the first action and you’ll automatically parry or dodge the rest of the sequence. If the first action is missed, you can press and hold on the next action- as long as 70% of the sequence is parried/dodged, it counts as a success.

Finally, should you wish to throw some money to Hi-Fi Rush (most folks may have played it as part of Game Pass), you can purchase the Bossplay Costume Pack. This lets you dress up Chai and the gang to cosplay as the five literal bosses of the Vandelay Corporation. Chai dressed as Kale, Peppermint gets Rekka’s drip, 808 naturally dons Roquefort’s furry form, Macaron looks fabulous with Mimosa’s look, Korisca isn’t cosplaying herself so she takes on Zanzo’s getup leaving hers to CNMN. The Bossplay Costume Pack is a separate purchase, not included in the Deluxe Edition, and is there for fans who have beaten the game (costumes only unlock after the main story is cleared).

Hi-Fi Rush is out now on Xbox Series X|S and PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, Microsoft Store). Check out our review of the game here.
