Here’s The Opening Theme For Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds

Sega has released the opening theme to Team Sonic’s upcoming arcade kart racer, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds.

We’ve the heard the opening theme in instrumental form before, as it plays in most of the game’s trailers. But here’s the full opening theme, with lyrics: “Sonic Racing – Cross the Worlds – (Opening ver.).”

The theme is sung by British pop-punk singer James Bourne of Busted. It is composed by Sega’s Takahiro Kai.

Sega has devoted this year’s marketing of their mascot Sonic The Hedgehog in engaging with the racing world, as an indirect tie-in to Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds. There’s a Red Bull video of Sonic going rallying. Sonic has crossed over into other racing games. More recently, Sega has become the “Official Gaming Partner” of McLaren Racing with Sonic The Hedgehog to appear in various activations with the reigning Constructors Champions in Formula 1. It’s also the team that won the cool trophy in the shape of Sonic, won by the legendary Ayrton Senna in a stunning display of speed where he rapidly overtake faster cars and championship-winning drivers at their prime, like the blue blur himself would, in the 1993 European Grand Prix that his incredible start to the race has been dubbed as “the lap of the gods.”

The crossover goes both ways, as Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds will not just feature Sonic and friends racing. Characters from other Sega and Atlus franchises (including Hatsune Miku) as well as other IPs will be featured in the kart racer’s roster.

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds will be out on September 25 for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. The PC versions on Steam and Epic Games Store in Asia will be released one day later, on September 26.
