Helldivers 2 has gone gold. Arrowhead’s sequel to its chaotic co-op shooter has finished development for the launch version and the game is effectively ready to launch.
For the uninitiated, Helldivers 2 tasked you as a helldiver, a soldier of Super Earth fighting to keeping Managed Democracy safe.
The over-the-top jingoistic portrayal of heroic super soldiers being sent to their doom in alien planets where giant bugs will kill you is pretty much intentional. It’s a silly game where you have to input direction commands to call for backup, which can fall onto any person and kill them. And friendly fire is always on.
Helldivers 2, despite being a PlayStation Studios game, will be released on PS5 and PC at the same time, and players of either platform can play together via cross-play.
