What if there is a smaller sized indie game with a lower price but a production value of a AAA game? Ninja Theory, the folks behind Heavenly Sword, that Devil May Cry reboot that fans love to hate, and the underrated gem Enslaved: Odyssey To The West is doing one.
Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice is for the most part an action game, but it deals with psychological horrors experienced by Celtic warrior Senua, in a world set in the Viking Age.
The setting is intriguing and the multiple developer diaries go into length on how they consulted psychologists to ensure the experience of a mentally unstable person is depicted properly. They also utilised performance capture, all for smaller sized game made by a small studio.

While we do not promote the act of pre-ordering for every game, but we do suggest you to give this title a look. It’s an interesting setting and if the combat is as good as the other games they’ve made, maybe it will be a decent indie game.
And who knows, if this hits the mark critically, maybe we could see more indie games that would try and do AAA production values for smaller titles.
