Gran Turismo 7 Releasing In 2022

A surprise news arrived, and the surprise is that it was so long before it’s actually been confirmed.

Gran Turismo 7, the next numbered entry in Polyphony’s gorgeous racing sim for the PS5, will not be coming this year. It’s now expected to release in 2022.

In an interview with GQ, when asked about the release of Gran Turismo 7, a Sony representative said this:

“GT7 has been impacted by Covid-related production challenges and therefore will shift from 2021 to 2022. With the ongoing pandemic, it’s a dynamic and changing situation and some critical aspects of game production have been slowed over the past several months. We’ll share more specifics on GT7’s release date when available.”

Gran Turismo 7 is set to be to “provide the best Gran Turismo experience at present,” and will follow the style of the previous numbered entries rather than the multiplayer-focused Gran Turismo Sport on PS4.

A delay should be no surprise for fans of GT. Polyphony is known to take its time when it comes to releases. Though their monthly GT Sport updates were for the most part pretty on-time when they used to do that.

We will have to wait a bit more to see long-tail Porsches screaming through the redesigned Trial Mountain circuit, but it’s an understandable wait.
