It’s another batch of three new cars coming at the end of the month for Gran Turismo 7. The racing game has found its groove back and have been maintaining this cadence for its monthly free content updates, and March 2025 continues the trend.
Also known as Update 1.57, the March 2025 update for GT7 brings three new cars. And yes, the third car of the lot is a certified Gran Turismo oddball pick.
First off, the coolest of the trio is the 2018 Aston Martin Vantage. The Grand Tourer car is already in GT7 via its much older, first generation model. This is the latest, sort-of, generation of the two-seater sports car, and a more handsome one at that with its more refined grill. There is however a newer 2024 facelift that dramatically changes the look of the Vantage which we’re not getting unfortunately. Such is the nature of Gran Turismo’s slower-paced car rollout. By the time it’s in the game it’s not exactly the new hotness and even worse, outdated.
For folks who love seeing regular cars regular people buy and drive in a racing game, GT7 got you with the Mazda CX-30 X Smart Edition. The 2021 model year car, is a crossover, which means the Toyota CH-R added in a previous update earlier this year now has some competition. This is the latest model year of the CX-30, unlike the Vantage, so this is the most recent version of the car appearing in GT7.
And yes, this is a regular car that you can frequently spot on Malaysian roads. Get the Honda CR-V in here and we get ourselves a holy trinity of Japanese crossovers in GT7.
And the oddball pick of the lot is the Renault Kangoo. The multi-purpose vehicle that looks more like van is represented here by its first-generation model, which has those goofy round headlights and big plastic bumpers that make up the design language of Renault cars of the early 2000s.
After last month’s addition of the Unimog, a Kangoo is a pretty decent odd car to add. And would you believe it that there’s still so many oddball cars Gran Turismo could add. The day when we see the return of the Dodge PT Cruiser and the debut of the Fiat Multipla in GT will be we shall remember fondly, at the cost of competitive race fans who chagrin at the thought of not having new race cars and are stuck with outdated machines. It’s been a long, long while since GT7 added proper race cars in post-launch updates.

Gran Turismo 7 March 2025 Update New Features
Unlike past months, there is a new feature coming to this month’s GT7 update, but only for players on PS5. GT Sophy is now updated to Version 2.1, with the ability to race advanced AI drivers in custom races.
Not only that, but GT Sophy is now smart enough to do pit stops, and as such, you can now attempt to longer races against the more sophisticated AI drivers developed by Sony AI. This does mean that you can have GT Sophy AI drive your customised car from your garage and create your own dream race.
However, GT Sophy custom races are limited to select track layouts, similar to what’s available in World Circuits.
To be clear, this isn’t the questionable generative AI stuff (which Sony is indeed exploring like any tech company is currently, which is concerning). This is a cool use of AI tech created to make smarter opponents, thus providing a better racing experience. And GT7 surely needed smarter AI to really have fun when driving in single-player given how rudimental the implementation of the basic opponent AI are.
As for other features, expect one new Extra Menu (collect three cars for a reward), a handful of new events in World Circuits and for the shutterbugs, new Scapes for photo mode. The usual.
The update will go live later today (March 27). Patch notes will be linked once it goes live.
Gran Turismo 7 was released in March 2022, and outside of several instances, has been regularly been updated on a monthly basis with free content since launch.
The game is out now on PS4 and PS5.
