Sonic Rumble, the free-to-play competitive party game by Sega announced a limited time event and it’s a… collaboration with Godzilla?
From December 22, 4PM (Malaysia Time, +8 GMT) to January 21, 2026 4PM, Sonic Rumble will feature a special collaboration stage and exclusive in-game items to be earned.
The announcement trailer features Sonic and friends encountering the beloved kaiju (and his entourage) in its full scale as well as scaled-down version as seen in Sonic Rumble. The CG trailer is produced by Shirogumi Inc., the visual effects studio that contributed in the recent film Godzilla Minus One. Wild.
(If you find having Godzilla in a game like Sonic Rumble seems a bit far-fetched, you’ll be glad to know that the tokusatsu icon has also appeared as a playable character in monster-brawler GigaBash, an indie game developed here in Malaysia. Coincidentally, Sega Rumble also has a real-life collab with a Malaysian fast food kiosk at the moment.)
Sonic Rumble is Sega’s take on competitive online party games, where players compete in large numbers in a series of challenges range from navigating obstacle courses to collecting rings within a set of time. It’s like Fall Guys, essentially, which has spawned various competing games in this specific sub-genre of game including Sonic Rumble.
Sonic Rumble is free-to-play and available now on PC (Steam, iOS, Android).
