Passion Republic Games’ stellar MegaHit debut title GigaBash gets a big update today alongside the release of the Godzilla DLC.
The OG kaijus and staple of the tokusatsu genre will be joining the cast of GigaBash’s original kaijus and heroes. The Godzilla DLC adds 4 new playable characters: Godzilla, Gigan, Mechagodzilla, and Destoroyah. Each character has a different moveset.
It’s cool to see Godzilla gracing its presence on GigaBash. The collab is an obvious one, and lends more credibility to this kaiju-based top-down fighting game.
But that’s not all. Accompanying the DLC release is Patch 1.1. The update adds two new modes.
Onslaught Mode has you fight against a wave of endless enemies. Read: horde mode. You can get buffs as you continue to survive through the waves, and there’s a global leaderboard as well as unique skins available unlockable from this mode. Onslaught Mode can be played solo or via local couch co-op.
Arcade Mode is a more traditional single-player mode where you fight 8 random enemies with a progressing difficulty which ends in a final boss fight.
In addition, Mayhem mode is not a strictly local co-op mode anymore. Players can join Mayhem mode online via Private Match.
Also, GigaBash has more support for cross-play by way of cross-platform matchmaking. With the patch, players on PS4, PS5, and PC (Steam and Epic Games Store) now share the same public matchmaking pool.
However, there are no cross-play lobbies yet. So you cannot invite players of a different platform family (PlayStation and PC) to a Private Match.
GigaBash is currently on discount on PlayStation Store (until December 21) and Steam (until December 20). The Godzilla DLC costs RM39 on PlayStation and RM32.49 on Steam and Epic.
GigaBash is a fun time for everyone at every skill level. You can check out our review of the game here.
