Godfall Is A Third-Person “Looter-Slasher” And The First Game Confirmed For PS5

What’s the first confirmed PS5 game? It’s not a first-party game. No, it’s a game from Gearbox and it’s a “looter-slasher”. No, it’s not the Borderlands team that’s developing this. Huh?

Godfall is a third-person hack-and-slash game with loot mechanics, hence “looter-slasher”. It’s not top-down like Diablo, but it is an action RPG. Like Borderlands, you can play the game solo and co-op multiplayer.

Anyway, this is developed by Counterplay Games, whose last game is the free-to-play trading card game/strategy tactics hybrid Duelyst. Which is a pretty hard swerve in direction, but you can see the fancy fantasy-style aesthetic being carried over.

Here’s the trailer:

Gearbox Publishing recently has a knack of publishing games with loot mechanics, like Risk of Rain 2.

Godfall will be out in Holiday 2020 for the PS5 and PC via Epic Games Store.
