Revealed during the September 2026 State Of Play broadcast is the gameplay of Ghost Of Yōtei: Most Wanted, the new roguelike game mode coming with Ghost Of Yōtei: Complete Edition.
The game mode will let you plays four different characters each with a specialization in one main weapon type: Ghost Of Yōtei protagonist Atsu with the Dual Blades, side character Oyuki with the Kusarigama (the sickle chained to a weight), new side character Nagato who wields the Yari (spear), and… Jin Sakai, the Ghost Of Tsushima himself, who uses the katana with access to the four stances he had in the 2020 video game.
How could Jin Sakai appear in Ghost Of Yōtei: Most Wanted given the base game is set centuries after his time? Maybe because he’s here as an actual Ghost, just like how the Yōtei Six are all weird. Or maybe because it’s just a non-canon video game mode that you don’t have to take canon that seriously. It’s fine, we’ve seen the Need For Speed Most Wanted (2005) BMW M3 GTR making weird cameos in more recent Need For Speed games. Nothing wrong with bringing a beloved hero car/hero character back for one more game even if doesn’t make canonical sense.
More details on how Most Wanted works can be found in this post on PlayStation Blog.
Ghost Of Yōtei: Complete Edition will be adding Most Wanted as well as a new story expansion: Echoes of Sekigahara, as well as other features. This would’ve been the perfect time for a PC release for this open world samurai cinema game, but PlayStation has quietly stopped releasing PC ports of their single-player games, with the last out of the gate being Death Stranding 2.
Ghost Of Yōtei: Complete Edition will be out either on October 1 or October 2 for the PS5. For Malaysia, this will be out on October 2. An upgrade pack will also be available for those who already owned the base game.
