Which do you prefer: Thing? Or Thing, Japan? PlayStation has announced that there will not one, but two State Of Play broadcasts happening this September, or rather this week. And they will run back-to-back.
Airing on September 3, 9 PM Malaysia Time (+8 GMT) is the September 2026 State Of Play broadcast. This will see “updates and announcements from PlayStation Studios and our third-party partners, concluding with an extended look at the vast world of Final Fantasy VII Revelation.”
Given that there wasn’t really much of a revelation for the third and final chapter of the Final Fantasy VII Remake series with last week’s new trailer, this would hopefully shed more information about the action-RPG, hopefully a release date, at the very least.
Airing right after the September 2026 State Of Play broadcast is the September 2026 State Of Play Japan broadcast. Last aired back in November 2025, State Of Play Japan will be once again hosted by Yuki Kaji, so there will be English subtitles while the show is presented in Japanese. This will feature “upcoming games from game studios in Japan and Asia, including new gameplay, announcements, and more.”
For now, PlayStation has not revealed what will be the slate of upcoming first-party games of 2027 outside of God Of War Laufey.

After Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026 and the initial Netflix release of that new GTA VI trailer, it’s nice to see a game announcement broadcast that’s more friendly to folks in Asia and Southeast Asia, albeit to the inconvenience of folks in Europe.
