Seemingly out of nowhere, PlayStation has locked in a release date for Sucker Punch’s follow-up to Ghost Of Tsushima, Ghost Of Yōtei.
The new trailer shows our new protagonist, Atsu, recalling the Onryō, a list of people who essentially wiped her family when was little. The big honcho, Lord Seito, even stabbed the little girl. No wonder she’s out here with a hitlist, like if she’s some kind of Assassin.
In the accompanying PlayStation Blog, the game allows you to take any of the six targets in any order. Either beeline through the hitlist, or take your time and explore the open world and see what the region of Ezo (the region we now know as Hokkaido) has to offer.
Ghost Of Yōtei’s new trailer does show off more gameplay of the open world action game set in 17th century Japan. Though Atsu’s adventures are far up north, in the area surrounding Mount Yōtei. Expect her to be able to wield more than a sword.
2025 kicked off with the release of Ubisoft’s long-awaited Assassin’s Creed Shadows, where the open-world action RPG finally went to Japan. If that’s not enough, or not your cup of tea but still want an open world game set in medieval Japan, well, better clear out October.
Ghost Of Yōtei is PlayStation’s second of three big game releases. Death Stranding 2 already locked in for June. Meanwhile, Bungie will release its first new game in a decade and the first new game under PlayStation ownership with the new Marathon in September.
Ghost Of Yōtei releases on October 2 for the PS5.
