Ghost of Yōtei – Ghost Of Tsushima Sequel Announced

Sucker Punch’s new game has been announced at the September 2024 State Of Play, Ghost Of Yōtei.

This is a sequel to 2017’s Ghost Of Tsushima, but in a new part of of Japan, in a different time, and starring a new protagonist.

Ghost Of Yōtei is set in 1603 in the lands the surround Mount Yōtei, a mountain located in the north parts of Japan on the island of Hokkaido. This is miles away from Tsushima island, and centuries after Jin Sakai’s story facing the Mongol invasion has happened.

Ghost Of Yōtei stars new protagonist Atsu, a female character. With the advancement in time, we also see a glimpse of new weaponry, a rifle. There’s also the kusarigama, the chain-sickle. Atsu is seen with a shamisen, the Japanese instrument, on her back throughout the trailer.

Ghost Of Tsushima trademark aesthetic choices like the black-and-white filter and cinematic screen borders is still present in Ghost Of Yōtei.

Ghost Of Yōtei is set for release sometime in 2025 for the PS5. This is would be the first of PlayStation Studio’s slate of games now set to arrive next year.
