Gears 5, the next Gears Of War installment, will get a reveal, but not in the way you expect to be.
To showcase its multiplayer, Xbox has partnered with ELEAGUE to showcase a documentary series, Gears Summer Series: The Bonds and Betrayal of Brotherhood. The six-episode series will follow six different players as they make the transition from Gears Of War 4 to Gears 5.
The series will follow eight selected teams in the Gears Of War esports scene, culminating to the Gears 5 Invitational tournament in on July 12th-13th.
Who better to showcase the multiplayer component than the esports teams that have been competing in the scene. But the decision to build the hype with ELEAGUE, which has done both tournament coverage and edited broadcasts (there was a reality-TV style show for Street Fighter V), is rather unorthodox. But interesting nonetheless.
There is no release window for Gears 5 yet, and the only media material was shown back at E3 last year.
This was revealed at the recent Inside Xbox stream, which also announced the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and a new, disc-less, Xbox One S.
