Planet Zoo, the next park builder sim by Frontier Developments, looks to do more than just replace the coasters and rides in Planet Coaster with animal enclosures. The first dev diary video takes a look behind the scenes in what sort of work the developers are doing.
Just like what they mentioned at the PC Gaming Show, Planet Zoo is attempting to deliver an authentic feel to the animals you can take care of in the zoos. From bespoke animations for each animal species to the how different each animal needs are, there is a lot work being made here. The elephants and lions look pretty realistic, in contrast to the cartoony-looking park visitors.
Plus, the dev diary revealed that weather will be a new feature for Planet Zoo. Weather affects like hot weather, rain and snow will affect the animals’ needs as well.
Of course, there is still a mention that Planet Zoo will still have that management game aspect still tied to all the creative liberties you have in designing the zoo, and the education elements thanks to the realistic portrayals of the animals, both visually and mechanics-wise. Frontier really wants you to walk away from the game and understand more on the conservation efforts to keep them around, at least by just being aware of it.
Planet Zoo will be out on November 5th on PC via Steam.
