Square Enix announced that the remaster for Final Fantasy X and its sequel, Final Fantasy X-2, is getting a native Switch 2 release.
Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster previously in 2013 for the PS Vita, then in 2015 for the PS4, 2016 for PC and finally the Xbox One and Switch in 2019.
Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster on Switch 2 will include a physical release. It will be using a Game Key Card, like most Square Enix releases on the platform.

Final Fantasy X was the first cinematic mainline entry to the Final Fantasy series, featuring voice-overs for characters and an increased fidelity in presentation. It’s also the first to have a direct sequel in the form of Final Fantasy X-2. While Final Fantasy X is a more melancholic pilgrimage in a dying world, Final Fantasy X-2 is a more upbeat (for the most part) epilogue the deals with the afterevents of the first.
Gameplay-wise the two can’t be even more different. Final Fantasy X introduced the Sphere Grid, a huge map of a skill tree that makes character progression more tangible. It also features strictly turn-based combat, in contrast to its predecessors that uses the hybrid real-time/turn-based Active Time Battle system. Final Fantasy X-2 brings back ATB, and instead of huge sphere grid, its trio of heriones can swap jobs (and clothes—like a magical girl) during battles.
If you haven’t experience these timeless classics yet, or just want to own another copy just because, Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster will be available on Switch 2 on July 23.
For those that haven’t kept count, the latest numbered Final Fantasy game is Final Fantasy XVI.
