Mafia: Definitive Edition is a proper remake of the original Mafia game first released in 2004. Not like Mafia II: Definitive Edition which was a remaster (with some faults, as we reviewed).
At the PC Gaming Show recently, a small glimpse of the game was shown in a less-than-a-minute narrative trailer. It’s a good look at how much work has been made in recreating the 1920s city of Lost Heaven, and re-introduces protagonist Thomas Angelo.

Mafia: Definitive Edition will also see an updated script- so expect new dialogues, new cut-scenes, expanded backstories and new gameplay sequences. Hangar 13, the current developer for the Mafia series (which still includes the original team that developed the series from Czech Republic), is using their Mafia III experience to bring back the original game, looking- at least for now- more impressive than ever.
Mafia: Definitive Edition will be out on August 28. It’s part of the Mafia: Trilogy collection which includes Mafia II: Definitive Edition and Mafia III: Definitive Edition, both of which are available now.
