Fan-Made Remake Of TimeSplitters Outlines How Much Work Has Been Done In The Past Year Of Development, Including Possible Release

TimeSplitters Rewind is the fan-made remake of TimeSplitters, the FPS series that draw lineage from GoldenEye 007 and Perfect Dark. Things has been quiet in the past year, but for 2020, the development team decided to share an update on how things are going.

The video explained that past work on levels have to be scrapped, and now work is focus on getting the environments ready. All the levels of the original TimeSplitters have been blocked out, as in rough geometry has been recreated. It now needs art assets.

The team is looking for environment artists as well at the moment. If you like to contribute, you can go contact them at their Discord here.

The 4:20 mark of the video showcases the glorious remade maps of Compound and Chinese, complete with new remixes of the themes. There’s definitely love and effort being put on here.

The TimeSplitters Rewind team is definitely aware of the change of rights owners of the TimeSplitters IP. While Crytek gave their blessings to the project before, this may change. The team is expected to release TimeSplitters Rewind in some form, so that there will be something for fans should anything happen to the project. No dates were revealed, however, so don’t hold your breath just yet.
