Fallout 76 Getting Two Game Patches Next Month, But It Definitely Needs More Than That

Fallout 76 is out now and boy, is it a mess. The spin-off prequel is the first time the Bethesda Game Studios attempted to make an online-only multiplayer live game and it sure has all sorts of problems.

Bethesda definitely know the big mess they are in, following a patch that is bigger than the game itself. Now there are two upcoming patches that will address some of the gameplay issues faced by players.

On December 4th, player’s stash limit will be increased to 600 from 400. Loot from bosses will drop properly (!), added new status effect when hit by the Cryolator (Chilled, Frosted, Frozen) depending how much hit they have taken, and fixes an issue where overencumbered players will only respawn at Vault 76 and a fix for those stuck in inside Power Armour.

On December 11th, the PC version will get push-to-talk, 21:9 ultrawide resolution support and FOV sliders. Besides that, all platforms will receive a patch that will let you respec your SPECIAL points at level 50 and some changes to the camp building feature, including the ability to bulldoze small trees, rocks and other props so you can get all your buildings plopped properly.

Bethesda ensures that future patches won’t be as big as the whole game again.

Fallout 76 is filled with questionable design choices (no human NPCs as a feature? Voice chat is on for all by default?) on top of an aging, crippling game engine that just don’t work as well anymore.

Since this is a live game, the developers are committed for the long haul. Private servers and modding may arrive in the future. So let’s see how can they salvage this game and how many patches it will get. At this state, they could use as many as they possibly can.
