Embracer Group, Parent Company Of THQ Nordic, Acquires Metro Devs 4A Games
Embracer Group, parent company of the lich kings that is THQ Nordic, has now acquired even more gaming studios. This includes 4A Games, the makers of the Metro games.
4A Games have been working with publisher Deep Silver, also part of Embracer Group. The developer last made Metro Exodus in 2019.
Embracer has acquired 100% of shares in the developer worth “approximately $36 million on a cash and debt-free basis equivalent to an equity value of $45 million”.
The Malta-based developer will now be placed under Saber Interactive, also part of Embracer Group. The acquisition will see the two studios work together in a new project that “combines the AAA production values of 4A Games’ combined engine and technology know-how, and Saber Interactive’s experience on multiplayer and live operations.” In addition, 4A Games is also working on a new IP.
TheEmbracer Group also purchased DECA Games, New World Interactive, Palindrome Interactive, Pow Wow Entertainment, Rare Earth Games, Sola Media and Vermila Studios.
