Within just a day of launch, Elden Ring Nightreign has sold 2 million copies, publisher Bandai Namco announced.
The multiplayer standalone spin-off to 2022’s critical acclaim Elden Ring is off to a roaring start, sales-wise.
Not as roaring as last year’s release of Shadow Of The Erdtree, Elden Ring’s first expansion, but still.
There is a demand for a multiplayer soulslike, and Nightreign didn’t play it straight by just enabling full co-op to a linear campaign. Developer FromSoftware has taken elements of battle royale and roguelikes and moulded into a 3-player PVE-only experience that seems familiar, but unlike any other game is offering.
The game launched with only an option for 3-player teams and solo play, no duos, something that will be rectified in an upcoming patch.
Though with over 2 million players already, Nightreign has expectedly suffered some setbacks regarding its online infrastructure. Players reported to have struggled getting matchmaking to work, to the point that official statement has advised to check your PlayStation’s NAT Type which may caused this issue, and try restarting the matchmaking process if takes too long. It’s been a long while since a PlayStation’s NAT Type online connection has been to blame for network issues.
Elden Ring Nightreign is out now on PS4, PS5, PC (Steam), Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
