Elden Ring Nightreign has added something new today. It’s the once-promised “enhanced bosses,” tougher versions of the Nightlords that await you at the of the 3-day-3-night run through Limveld.
Officially dubbed as Everdark Sovereigns (the game sure loves the word “reign”), one will appear each week and available to be challenged by the brave who have faced the base Nightlord and won. At the moment, the rotation will cycle through three of the total eight Nightlords available (bu their expedition name): Gaping Jaw, Sentient Pest and Darkrift Knight.
Everdark Sovereign requires an online connection to play. Most of Nightreign is available to play solo offline, but not this specific content.
The weekly cycle of Everdark Sovereign is now live today with Adel, Baron of the Night (Gaping Jaw). If you love the aggressive monster with a wide gaping jaw (and arguably wider hitbox), you can brave an attempt at an even harder fight.
Defeating an Everdark Sovereign Nightlord earns you Sovereign Sigils, a new currency to spend on special Relics (permanent passives that can be slotted onto characters) and other items.
Elden Ring Nightreign is a new, uniquely different take on multiplayer co-op, with elements of battle royale, roguelike, and even MOBA to some extent. Think co-op Apex Legends with Elden Ring mechanics and you already halfway there in understanding its appeal. Nightreign has sold fairly well, not as much as previous Elden Ring releases within the same launch period, but good enough to justify its existence. There is a fanbase for a multiplayer co-op game.
Elden Ring Nightreign is out now on PS4, PS5, PC (Steam), Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. Check out our review of the game here.
