Earth Defense Force is a long-running series about shooting giant aliens that look like insects with crazy weapons, campy writing and not a care for any game polish, in a charming way. After EDF 5, which was just released in English last December, the next follow-up to the series is coming really soon.
Earth Defense Force: Iron Rain steps away from the usual numbered series. A new developer is at hand (Yuke’s). All new assets are used and a new story is set up where Earth is in ruins from the long war against the bugs.
Despite first seen as a serious reboot, don’t worry, some of its quirky charm. In particular, the writing and voice acting is still what you expected from the series.
For the Asian release, EDF: Iron Rain will feature voiceovers in Chinese and Korean. Pre-orders for three different editions of the game is now available on Playstation Store Asia, with the standard edition (digital) priced at RM219. Compared to EDF 5, this is a full-priced game.
The other versions’ pricing is as follows:
- Standard Version (Disc): RM229
- Deluxe Edition (Digital): RM254
- Ultimate Edition (Digital): RM324
EDF: Iron Rain will be out globally on April 26th exclusively for the PS4.
