Skate 4 (or whatever the new Skate game will be called) has been “willed into existence“, proclaimed Skate creative director Cuz Perry last year at EA’s Play Live event.
And today, EA has formally revealed the new dev studio working on Skate 4, named Full Circle. Skate veteran Parry and Deran are joined with studio head Daniel McCulloch (former Head Of Xbox Live) at the Vancouver-based developers.
“The fans wished Skate back into existence and we want them to feel involved in the process from development to game launch and beyond,” said McCulloch in a press release.
“We want them to feel like they are a part of Full Circle. We’re all about having fun and making great games that people want to play with their friends. And, we’re looking for more developers to help us build compelling worlds for players to explore.“
The Skate series, a more simulation take on skateboarding games, were previously developed by Black Box- the same team behind the many PS2-era Need For Speed games. The studio was shut down in 2013.
With Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater back in good form, and at least two sim-style skateboarding games in the market (Session and Skater XL), there’s a lot of expectations for the next Skate game, presumably titled Skate 4. At the very least, all the years of folks memeing and asking for #Skate4 has been heard. Hopefully Full Circle is up to the task at hand.
