Destiny 2 enters Season 14 today with Season Of The Splicer. Following the events of last season, Season Of The Chosen, you are now tasked stopping the Vex threat that’s attacking the Last City by plunging it into an endless night. Teaming with the Fallen Mithrax, you’ll be harnessing Splicer tech to take down the simulation.
Destiny 2 Season Of The Splicer introduces one new seasonal activity, Override. This has matchmaking and up to six players, where you have to steal Vex code and hack the Vex network.
Override requires the Season Pass, as per usual with seasonal activities, but free players get a free trial of the activity in the first week of starting the season.
In addition, there’s also a new weekly pinnacle mission, Expunge. Here, you’ll be inflitrating the Vex network, which is all bathed in cyberpunk-ish blue, pink and red hues, by the way.
Coming on May 22 is the return of Destiny’s first raid, Vault Of Glass. The Destiny 1 raid will be coming to Destiny 2 and will be free to everyone to take on.
Alongside that, this is the season where armour synthesis, a.k.a. transmog, arrives in Destiny 2. Prepare to grind for the fashion you so desire, but at least there is a way to make how you look a priority.
For Season 14, expect to see 30 new and returning Legendaries and three new Exotic leg armours, one for each class. There’s also the new Exotic sidearm, gained from the battle-pass seasonal rewards track, with owners of the season pass getting an immediate unlock, as usual. What’s not usual is that this sidearm has Statis elemental, the new elemental introduced in the Beyond Light expansion.
Destiny 2’s Season Of The Splicer is now live, and will run until August 24.
