Destiny 2 added a cool new feature this season, Season 14, Season Of The Splicer, which allows players to turn any gear into a universal ornament.
Armor synthesis, as the game calls this system, is essentially transmogrification (transmog), letting players loose with fashion combinations without needing to sacrifice gear power.
The problem, is that it was way too grindy. You’ll need to earn Synthstrand (dropped randomly on enemies) which is then used to buy bounties which then earns you Synthcord, which you need to collect enough to turn them into Synthweave. The first aspect is needless grindy due to its low drop rates.
In the latest This Week At Bungie blog post, the developers have announced that the initial resource, the Synthstrand resource will be scrapped next season. On Season 15, you can just straight up buy the Armor Synthesis bounties for a more reasonable 10,000 Glimmer price.
“Our hope is that this change reduces the time needed to earn your 10 Synthweave tokens per class each Season,” the post reads.
Thankfully the many complaints from the community were heard and Bungie adjusted accordingly. Having a new time sink for the looter-shooter isn’t a bad idea on its own, it becomes bad when it is needlessly wasting player’s time. So good on them for making the change.
