Oculus VR is now under Facebook. And Facebook has been making radical changes to integrate the VR business. This includes a mandatory Facebook account sign-in to even use the latest Oculus Quest 2 VR headset.
As reported by UploadVR, there is a worrisome consequence of this move. If you choose to delete your Facebook account, all the purchases you’ve made on the Oculus Store will also be deleted.
Deactivating your Facebook account will also deactivate your Oculus profile, which means you can’t access your VR headset.
Using an Oculus VR headset today means you really need to commit on having a Facebook profile. But if something bad happens, you’re not going to just lose a profile you can create from scratch, but also purchases made with real money.
Oculus owners are currently unhappy with this policy, rightfully so. The Oculus Quest 2 VR headset works without a PC and reviews have been glowing. But as of right now, it has one big flaw.
