Dead Space Remake Releasing On January 27, 2023

We now have a hard release date for Motive’s upcoming remake of the classic sci-fi survival horror game Dead Space.

Simply titled Dead Space, players will again be strapping into the boots of engineer Isaac Clarke as he ventures into the USG Ishimura mining ship. What was supposed to be a simple fix job turns horrifically wrong and instead of cutting wires and steel, he’ll have to cut off limbs of Necromorphs to survive.

The original 2008 game was released to critical and fan acclaim thanks to its good mix of horror ambience, the Resident Evil 4-inspired gameplay (with a similar over-the-shoulder camera as well) and its brilliant use of diegetic UI. The game received two numbered sequels, a few spin-offs and other media releases before the series went dormant.

The original developer of Dead Space, Visceral Games, was shut down in 2017.

The Dead Space remake is being done entirely in EA’s proprietary Frostbite engine, and the devs have been sharing regular updates on what’s being retouched and what’s retained through livestreams.

Dead Space will be a next-gen only title, meaning that it will not be available on PS4 and Xbox One. This has been communicated since the remake was officially revealed.

The Dead Space remake will be out on January 27, 2023, for the PS5, PC and Xbox Series X|S.
