Rising Thunder was a promising new fighting game developed by Radiant Entertainment in 2015, made up of the people who first started EVO. What makes the game different than other fighters is its accessibility. There were no quarter-circle and dragon punch motions to pull off a special move, it’s mapped straight to a button with a cooldown.
Despite a promising early alpha, the game was cancelled once Radiant was bought by Riot Games, developers of League Of Legends, in 2016. Fans attempted to revive the game again, but to no avail.
Thankfully, Radiant is now handing the game to the community with the release of Rising Thunder: Community Edition. The game can be played locally now, and online play is still possible as the developers will also make the server, be open source.
What this means is that Rising Thunder will can now be revived and entirely run by the community. The final build will be out in January, and everyone can have a go at the game once more.
