Chill city-builders are now a thing, and it’s great. If you want to check out a new one coming soon, you might be interested in Toukana Interactive’s debut title: Dorfromantik.
Dorfromantik lets you place hex tiles and match them together to make some impressively beautiful scenery. You can combine clumps of trees together. And create a forest, connect huge swathes of farmland together, and make cosy villages on the riverside. And make long connections of river and train tracks too.
The hex tiles can have different elements together in one tile (like a tiny house that connect to a town, and some clumps of tree that can connect to a forest). So these are actually puzzle pieces. But your call on how to exactly place it together.
The goal of the game is to keep getting enough tiles and build your cosy village to your liking. Some tiles will have an objective to do- like connect enough houses or have a specific number of farmlands connected. Once done, more tiles are added to your stack so you can keep on adding new tiles.
It’s a chill game, with a really beautiful art style, soothing music and a simple but deep puzzle mechanic.
If you like games like Islanders, here’s an even more chill alternative.
A demo is out now as part of Steam Game Festival, which lets you try and build your romantic village with a maximum of 85 tiles.
Dorfromantik is coming to Steam Early Access on March 25 – March 26 for Asia as Steam releases games 1 day late in Asia.
