Borderlands 4 is now available for pre-order, publisher 2K announced. But the bigger announcement is buried under the list of bonuses included in the more expensive editions of the upcoming looter-shooter by Gearbox Software.
It’s now confirmed that not only will Borderlands 4 will have four DLC packs to be available post-launch, it will also be adding two new Vault Hunters which comes in a pack of content that also includes a whole new story missions. There will be six DLCs that will include substantial content from the total of nine—the other three just adds cosmetics—which are included in the different editions of Borderlands 4.
This is a big U-turn from Borderlands 3, which decided to not add extra Vault Hunters as DLC and opted to give each of the four existing Vault Hunters an extra skill tree. Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel previously added two Vault Hunters as DLC, a tradition broke by the previous numbered entry to mostly negative Steam reviews (even when taken account of the recent review bombings).
And the promise of “four separate post-launch DLC packs, each with distinct areas, new missions, and unique bosses” should be a big upgrade when compared to Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands offering of four-pack DLCs which were barely anything. This is more in line with the previous numbered Borderlands games which properly expands the game with new content. Like good ol’ expansion packs.
Borderlands 4 Pricing Is Malaysia Favours PC Gamers
And with pre-orders now live, we also get another confirmation: the price of Borderlands 4. Thankfully, it’s not an $80 USD game, it’s a $70 USD game in the US.
But over in Malaysia, the pricing is a bit odd. Over on Steam and Epic Games Store, regional pricing placed in an agreeable price point of RM239. However, the price for a standard edition of Borderlands 4 on PlayStation Store Asia is at RM339. That’s RM100 more, and RM40 more than most game with a $70 USD price tag, which usually converts to RM299 here. But it is consistent with the rest of 2K’s offering. Civilization VII on PS5 is priced at RM339 as well.
