Borderlands 3 Will See The Return Of Atlas Guns, Some Gimmick Changes To Returning Gun Manufacturers

The most defining feature of Borderlands is the procedurally-generated guns, which amount to a huge number of possible variants. But each gun in the series has a labeled manufacturer which determines some traits and by Borderlands 2, introduces unique gimmicks based on each manufacturer.

Based on the updated Borderlands website, we will see 9 gun manufacturers in Borderlands 3.

Atlas, which was absent in Borderlands 2 and Borderlands The Pre-Sequel, is now back. The gimmick for Atlas is that they have a tracker tag. Once fired, smart bullets will home to the tracker tag, so spray-and-pray may be possible.

For Dahl, these guns have burst fire when you aim down sight. But for Borderlands 3, Dahl guns now can toggle their fire modes to your preference.

As for Maliwan, known to spawn with a guarantee elemental effect, will now have a toggle between two different elements.

Cov (or rather, Children Of The Vault), which replaces Bandit (and Scav), will retain the same hobbled together aesthetic. Their big ammo capacity gimmick is now changed to unlimited ammo, but can be overheated through prolonged firing.

Hyperion keeps its accuracy boost as more shots are fired continuously, but these guns will now have mounted shields, which activates when you aim down sights.

Vladof, the Russian-inspired manufacturer still produces rapid-fire weapons, but will now have unique under-barrel attachments including tasers, rocket tubes, and… additional gun barrels.

Jakobs are still the high-damage, high-crit guns best for sniping, but now bullets will ricochet off enemies.

Torgue weapons, known for their explosive ammo, now has a toggle to fire sticky-projectiles. Have many of them on one target and you deal more damage when you set off explosion.

Finally, Tediore weapons reload by chucking it away, exploding, and a new one digistructs back in your hand. This seems to be the most unchanged of the weapon gimmicks, but given that there is a walking gun that looks like a Tediore aesthetic, there might be a few surprises here.
